Our technology

InSituMetrix is developing direct in-situ stress measurement technology for deep subsurface applications.
The system builds on established stress-measurement principles and combines dedicated instrumentation, wireline deployment, and data analysis to reduce uncertainty in stress-state characterization at depth.

Method

We adapt the flat jacking method, traditionally used at the surface, for application at great depths — enabling direct, accurate, and comprehensive in-situ stress measurements in deep boreholes.

Measurement

Our solution employs advanced measurement protocols to maximize accuracy, reliability, and repeatability in stress-state data collection, even under extreme subsurface conditions.

Deployment

Wireline-based deployment enables the efficient use of our instruments in deep, narrow boreholes, minimizing operational complexity and cost while ensuring full access to critical stress zones.

Instrument

We design and engineer next-generation tools capable of operating at high depths and under extreme pressures, providing unmatched performance in challenging underground environments..

Data analysis

Our comprehensive data processing and analysis platform transforms raw measurements into precise, actionable stress information, overcoming the limitations of traditional, indirect methods.

Our solution

InSituMetrix enables the direct measurement of:

  • Maximum horizontal stress

  • Minimum horizontal stress

  • Vertical stress, providing real-time in-field calibration for superior accuracy

Unlike hydraulic fracturing techniques, our non-invasive technology captures stress-state information without causing any damage to the host rock, ensuring data integrity and preserving the geological environment.

Insitumetrix has several advantages over traditional measurement tools. It measures maximum horizontal stress, and minimum horizontal stress. There is no rock fracturing and can be calibrated using vertical stress.
